Allison davis’ “Revealed at the edge”
February 17 - March 10, 2022

About the Artist
Allison Davis is a “Witness to Life & Beauty,” a photographer, an author, a designer & a traveler. Beginning her post-college career as a journalist, she later developed a love for wedding photography and built a successful business photographing more than 400 weddings over 13 years. Seeking beauty and adventure and the hope of building a new life after years of feeling personally stuck, she moved from her lifelong home of the North Dallas metroplex to Ocean Beach in San Diego, California.
Amidst the global pandemic of 2020, after losing her wedding business for the year, she pivoted into real estate photography briefly but found her artistic passion suffer between four walls. Casting a grand vision of photographing the west coast in 30 days, she set off to car-camp along the coast to photograph the natural beauty the coastal landscape offers while writing along the journey. Tracking each set of images by the mileage of her journey, Allison created her first fine art photographic coffee table book: “Revealed at the Edge.”
About this Event
Come for a night of inspiration & experience the wild beauty of the American West Coast as captured by local fine art photographer Allison Davis from her 30 Day journey photographing 3116 miles of the coastline.
The opening night event is a celebration and showcase of Davis' debut coffee table book "Revealed at the Edge," which raised more than $38,000 on Kickstarter to bring it to life, and her fine art collection from the series.

Midsummer Madness – curated and produced by 2021 1835 Intern Team

1835 Art Gallery Show – “Midsummer Madness” - Opening Night this Thursday, June 3 rd at 6-
10pm!
Midsummer Madness, is an art exhibition centered around the beautiful and the deadly; a
precocious and cinematically inspired ode to the recent real world implications of existing with
the hopes of finding solace outside—even if it’s not guaranteed.
Whether it be a pandemic, racial inequity, gun violence, or a classist government solely
concerned with appearance and profit over the well being of its collective; all of us are subjected
to the madness of the outside world. All of us are vulnerable in the face of uncertainty. And we
acknowledge that it takes great courage to create something beautiful in the midst of this jarring
reminder. However terrifying, uncertainty itself is perhaps the most persistent natural occurrence
that we can acknowledge; making it beautiful and necessary, chaotic yet crucial, and
magical yet maddening.
Midsummer Madness Art Show was curated and produced solely by the extraordinary team of
1835 Interns we had onboard from Nov 2020 - June 2021:

portraits, however, she hopes to expand her skill set and learn to draw different subjects,
objects, and more.

the fluidity and open arms of San Diego's art scene and hopes to continue to highlight those

Beautiful Chaos curated and produced by Tiffany Street
About this event
“Everything has two aspects: the current aspect, which we see nearly always and which ordinary men can see, and the ghostly and metaphysical aspect, which only rare individuals may see in moments of clairvoyance… A work of art must narrate something that does not appear within its outline.”—Giorgio de Chirico
Exhibition Brief
Beautiful Chaos is an exhibition of young emerging artists from both San Diego and other areas of the country who critically comment on the state of our cultural landscape, synthesizing their topical commentaries with surreal, disorienting and other-worldly text and imagery. Artists included in the exhibition come from the San Diego region along with Los Angeles, Portland, Austin, Las Vegas and New York City. Included artists are Malicia Domino, Optimus Volts, Eye Gato, Nicholas Danger, Fluidtoons, Manaz Mostamandy Raiszadeh, Saul Ciggaroa, 0h10 M1ke, Mara Appel Des Lauriers, Lucky, Lala, Davie Slowhands, Nick Branfield and URL.
Their works’ bold and visually compelling content speaks on the turmoil of the past year, bringing viewers face-to-face with what we often push into our subconscious minds. Much of the work brings to mind the surrealist movement where artists such as Dalí, Man Ray, Khalo and de Chirico (among others) showed us what they were able to see lying beneath the surface.
Like these legendary artists, the artists in this exhibition don’t contain chaos: they instead choose to unearth, interpret and beautifully present their findings. Through their acts, we see things in a new light. And thus, we use art to disrupt the chaos.
Event Details
The exhibition opening will include an outdoor art market with DJ performances and limited capacity admittance in the interior gallery throughout the evening. Interior surfaces will be sanitized throughout the evening. Beer and wine will be available for sale. Admission is $5 in advance. Presale tickets are available, and guests are encouraged to purchase tickets in advance.
